Long Hairtyles & Haircuts

Long Hairstyles look gorgeous but keeping them maintained and looking healthy can be a challenge. From celebrities sporting long locks to hair extensions becoming popular it seems that everyone is looking for ways to get long beautiful hair in a hurry. Long styles are somewhat limited in haircut options but when styled properly they are guaranteed to be eye catching and the styling possibilities are endless!

Long styles are flattering for anyone wanting to make their face appear more slim. Anyone who has thin hair to begin with may not want to add length, as this will only make hair look stringy. Anyone who is trying to grow their hair out should be prepared for aggravating style phases in order to achieve the desired length. Continued below...

There are many different types of hair extensions on the market today that can be used as a method to create long hair without a waiting time. Some extensions are synthetic and can’t be styled with heat, others are made of real hair and can be styled just as you would style your own hair. They can be purchased in small clip-in sections or thicker weaves that can be sewn into your real hair. Adding layers throughout can help prevent flat, boring looks and can be easily styled with a curling iron or flat iron. Layers also blend short hair into hair extensions in a more natural looking way.

While ponytails are always an easy option, straightening or curling long hair creates great body. To prevent long hair from looking weighed down you may want to have your stylist razor in some fairly short layers at the crown of your head so that you can give your style some volume. Tools and products that are great for long hair consist of: straighteners, curling irons, heat protectant, volumizing mousse, and hairspray. Styling long hair with a curling iron is one of the most popular looks right now. It is a good idea to curl your hair a little bit tight because the curls will loosen into some sexy, wavy, curls as the day goes on. It is also very important to use an intensely hydrating conditioner on long hair because it will begin to look very dry and damaged over time. Usually it is recommended for anyone with longer hair to shampoo every other day rather than daily to prevent excess damage.

Long hairstyles have many benefits and some downfalls too, but you can be sure that you will receive many compliments if you decide to grow out your hair!

Long Hairstyle Tips

Long Wavy Hair StyleGirls you can't go wrong with long and wavy hair! Vanessa Hudgens wore her long wavy locks hairstyle with her front bangs wavy as well!

To get this look, you need a long layered cut that you can work some volume into. Start off by scrunching some pomade or volumizing mousse into damp hair. Blow dry with a round bristle brush, or you can wind sections around your hair if you prefer. You can use a curling iron to set stronger waves once you have done this, but instead of clamping the iron onto your hair, wind the hair section around the barrel of the curling iron. This way the ends won’t curl as tight, and they will stick out just enough to give you this pretty tousled look.

After you have finished curling, shake your hair out and finger comb it as you go through the day and you will have her look of long luscious waves lasting all day, and into the night.
