Blake Lively is seen here as she braves the frigid New York temperatures on the set of Gossip Girl. The cast members of your favourite prime time drama have been under the cold watch this winter and have been taking their talent up a notch by working in sub zero temperatures, conditions under which style concerns are at a paramount. And though some of her castmates and colleagues have been able to beat the cold and still flash glamorous smiles, Blake may be at the end of her day here as she looks like the weather may be finally wearing her out. Clutching steaming coffee cups and embracing huge puffy coats, cast members of Gossip Girl did their best to maintain beauty and style, but in some cases the assistance just didn’t cut it. And are we looking at bad lighting here, or is Blake Lively needing some serious root control?

It looks like Blake’s hair has been colored a rich red, but we have some serious concerns with root touch up. When you wear your hair long and luscious like Blake tends to do, it can be very easy to get away with missing a root appointment or two, as volume and height tend to minimise these factors. However the lighting here is magnifying Blake’s color condition and giving her a brassy and unkept look that isn’t attractive, at least from this angle.

When you are dealing with cold temperatures that WILL affect your overall look, you need to keep up with your maintenance. This means regular root touch-ups every six weeks, and hot oil treatments at least once a week. This will keep your hair conditioned and moisturized, and looking healthy all winter long. When you are suffering some winter frizz and dullness during the long winter months, you can use a color gloss rinse to amp up your color between touch-ups, and add some deep conditioning in between hot oil treatments.
