Here is Heidi Klum supermodel extraordinaire and leader of “Project Runway” showing her support for the DKMS Life Campaign, an organization dedicated to the donation of bone marrow. The campaign that Heidi is supporting is one that teaches women with cancer how to put their makeup on when they’ve lost hair on their eyebrows and face and are dealing with cancer side effects. Yes, it’s not enough that she’s gorgeous and a fashionista, she has a big ol’ heart as well.

Heidi is one of those A-listers that has a never ending stream of business to attend to, and as such, she may not have the time for frequent trips to the stylist to maintain her blonde locks. As a result, her stylist has come up with way to overcome this. Gradually dark roots that blend, rather than give the skunk look. You can see Heidi has some darker colored roots, with highlights that frame her face for an overall look that doesn’t look ‘unkept’ at all.

Highlights are a great alternative to makeup in terms of face contouring, and they also offer a great alternative to root maintenance when you have dark roots and lighter colored hair. Highlights will also give your hair the illusion of volume if you need a little bit extra lift. Here Heidi has gradual and staggered highlights in progressive shades that create shadows that fool the eye into believing that flat hair is curving towards her roots.
