Here is Hayden Panettiere dining out for sushi with her mom at the trendy Katsuya restaurant in West Hollywood. Hayden is looking a little more mellow than usual these days, could it be because her time in the spotlight is running short? Nonetheless she looks pretty as ever with her loose waves falling easily around her head in a casual but very pretty long, wavy look.

This look is easily achieved if you have long hair and a flat-iron. Yes, a flat-iron can actually help you make waves if you work with it properly. You want to work this look with washed and blow-dried hair, but run just a smidge of pomade through your towel-dried hair before you blow-dry. This will give you a little bit of hold when you work your hair with the flat-iron.

While flat-irons are generally used for straightening hair, you can also use them to create a little bit of bend in appropriate places, or even wave if you like. The trick is to use them like you would a curling iron, wrapping your hair around the flat iron instead of sweeping the iron down your locks. There is a tendency to go curly still if you do this, so don’t hold the iron on your hair for too long. Simply wrap the sections around the iron and literally sweep the hair out of the iron. You will end up with very pretty waves that you can brush out with a soft brush to achieve a soft, wavy look like Hayden.
