Here is Gwen Stefani having a little visit with her parents in Bel Air over the weekend. And even when she is practically minutes away from giving birth, she still looks fabulous. Gwen is looking stunning in a long summer maternity dress with her platinum locks pulled off her head loosely, and a few sexy side swept bangs accenting her pretty face.
Having platinum blonde hair is certainly a brave choice, and few can pull it off if you don’t maintain the upkeep on it. Let’s face it, when you go almost all-white, you are going to have some roots to contend with. That being said, the two most important rules for getting, and maintaining platinum hair are this.
First things first, have your radical change performed at a salon. If you don’t have the funds but really want the look, save up for it, as this is one expense that will be well worth the trip. Salons know how to implement the platinum look with all of the right conditioning products, and when you are bleaching your hair, conditioning product is essential. On to the second tip, maintenance. Root maintenance is also critical to ensure your platinum locks stay platinum and don’t at some point give you the skunky look. Let’s face it, no one finds that sexy. Gwen herself has said that she has hers done every two weeks, and while that may be a little pricey for you, you can stretch it to six, at most though, and still maintain very pretty platinum hair.
Other standard maintenance tips include frequent use of conditioning product, and if you purchase conditioners designed for dyed blonde hair, you will be all the better. If you choose to go back to your original color at any point, note that dyed blonde hair will soak up pigment faster than your natural hair, so you want to choose a shade lighter than what you want or you may go darker than intended. However, if you stay platinum, and be warned you may, many say it is addictive, then you can off-set your pretty hair with a wider range of clothing colors or accessories such as bright red shades, or brighter clothes than you normally would. The effect is stunning! Go for it, you may just find that blondes do have more fun!
