There are so many articles that tell people what to do to their hair that it can almost be confusing. Do you put eggs in your hair, or do you put mayo in it? Is beer better than vodka for your hair? If shampoo takes oil out, why use hair oil for a smoother and healthier shine to the hair? See, confusing. With all the information of what to do, it might be easier to look at what not to do to your hair.

1. Wash it every day- While it can be beneficial to wash your hair every day if you swim in the ocean every day or play in oil every day, for most people it is simply a manner in which to get split ends and damaged hair. Wash your hair every other day at the most to ensure that the body’s natural oils are able to repair the hair properly and that the hair remains healthy.

2. Blow dry the hair dry- While blow drying the hair can be nice in the winter when it might freeze, for most days it is unnecessary and damaging. Blow drying the hair until it is bone dry only helps to increase the frizz factor in the hair and increase the number of broken or split ends that one has.

3. Use heavy products like volumizing shampoos and conditioners- Everyone wants thick heads of hair, but not every one was blessed with it. To combat thin hair, companies have come out with volumizing shampoos and conditioners that coat the hair with waxes and such to make for a thicker head of hair. The only problem is that the wax can become too heavy and dull the hair or damage the hair. If you are going to use these, use a clarifying shampoo once a week or so.

4. Use alcohol in the hair- Alcohol of any type has a tendency to dry out the hair or burn the hair. Neither of these results are what one wants when they use a product on their hair.

5. Dye the hair frequently- There are many different hair dye companies that claim their product is safe enough for consistent usage. However, these companies also recommend not re-dying until six weeks after the first dye. Most hair dyes have ammonia in them and that is a degreaser which can damage the hair. Take the full six weeks and then some before re-dying.

The best thing for dull, dry, damaged hair and to help hair grow healthier is use a leave in Extra Virgin Olive Oil treatment to your hair for atl least an hour or longer the better. Also at least once a week.
