When it comes to fashion, the high schoolers have their finger on the pulse of Milan. This year, the hippest and the hottest trends are truly a carry over from lasts years fashions and this summer's hits.
The Skinny Jean
As much as their parents would love for this fashion trend to disappear, the skinny jean is there to stay. Both girls and guys are donning this unrealistically tight jeans with shirts that fall just to the waste line. There are a few limits to this fashion, however. In order to wear the skinny jean and look the way the runway models do, you will need to find just the right skinny jean.
Some skinny jeans are made with a lot of spandex to make the legs of the jeans stretch to fit. But, if there is too much spandex in the material mix, the jeans will lose their shape within the first few hours and skinny jean will turn into dumpy jean. The best choice is a skinny jean with just a touch of spandex.
Layering Tops
Ladies, top layering is back again this year. From the sight of kids going into and out of the school, it seems the solid shirt is going under with a patterned shirt on top. The solid color shirt can match the pattern with the strongest or the mildest color. So, be bold and go for the color in the pattern that shows through only a little, the solid undershirt will pull that color out and make it pop.
Also on the layering tip is the layering of hooded jackets. It seems that the more hoods you have this year the better. The layered hoody look is perfect when the under hoody is solid and the top hoody has a zip front.
WARNING: The hoodies used for layering are not the same ones used for track practice. Hoodies can be purchased in thin material that resembles the fabric tops are created from.
Back to school fashion this year is hip and hot. Thanks to the resilience of last years styles, moms will only need to add a few key foundations to the pieces from the year before. That means more money for the sneakers and the bags!
